Faith Vs Circumstances

Genesis 41:41 “Pharoah said to Joseph “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.” One of our companies recently experienced a significant dip in volumes due to covid, but in a recent board meeting I was really impressed at the founder’s ability to keep his faith in a really big vision. I think it also helped that the investors around the table pushed him to think even bigger during this time, given that change often correlates with opportunity. It reminded me about something Bill Johnson once said (and I paraphrase). “When things go wrong, you have the choice to lower your faith to the level of your circumstances, or to let your circumstances rise to the level of your faith.” If you truly believe in an all-powerful and loving God who wants the best for you, there’s really only one option. In scriptures, Joseph had a vision and despite being rejected by his own brothers, sold into slavery, and being falsely accused and jailed for sexual assault, he never lost his faith. He did his best to honor God in the small jobs that he had, and eventually he became the Prime Minister of a powerful nation. He let the circumstances rise to the level of his faith. Lord, as I hit speedbumps along the way, I pray that you help me to keep my dreams big and to increase my faith in you. I declare that you are a good God, who loves me and went to the cross for my sake. How could I not believe that you have the best for me? Thank you for all you’ve done. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
