Isaiah 26:12 “All we have accomplished is really from you. O Lord our God, others have ruled us, but you alone are the one we worship.” My mom told me once when I was in college that I had this tendency of ascribing too much importance to influential people. I responded that God could use influential people, and they could help you achieve the things you felt God was leading you towards. So it made sense to pay attention. Since then I’ve seen many people I looked up to fall from grace in various ways. Some experienced a dramatic fall from power. Others simply faded as a new generation rose in their stead. Now I realize that putting faith in people is a dangerous exercise. Putting faith in circumstances is a dangerous exercise. But God deserves my undivided faith because while circumstances and people change, God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Lord I declare today that all I have is from you. Others may have had influence over me at various points in my life, but you alone are the one I worship. I love you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
